Canada's Arctic

The arctic boundary represented is as defined by CAFF. As one of the working groups of the Arctic Council, the Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna (CAFF) contributes biogeographical knowledge to the Council’s decisions. The CAFF arctic boundary is defined largely by ecosystem dynamics, it represents only one way to define ‘the arctic’. As an Arctic Council observer, WWF frequently attends CAFF meetings and adds its expertise to the group’s work.

Population number represented is an estimate only, pulled from 2015 population counts from NWT, Yukon and Nunavut. Landmass and coastline are calculated based on the CAFF boundary and are estimates only.
